Jungle Pops, Monster Pops, and Reject Pops!

This week was relatively slow, which gave me a little bit of time to work on some new pop designs!  I was pretty happy with these jungle print pops!

These monsters a spookily sweet!  Great for a little boy's monster themed birthday party!

There were also some cake pop fails among the experiments!  I call these Reject Pops!  When I practice on a new design there are always bound to be some pops that just don't make the cut.  So rather than waste these delicious treats just because they don't look up to snuff, I slap a huge discount on them and offer them up!

These particular reject pops have sold.  Follow me on Facebook and be the first to nab the next batch of reject pops!

Mini Cake Cake Pops

It was my mom's birthday last month.  I have wanted to try these little mini cake cake pops for a while now and thought her birthday would be the perfect opportunity for it!

I really like the one with candles!

Unfortunately the icing did not stay attached to the cake during it's travels through the postal system.

She still enjoyed them and said they were very tasty!  I have a few more tricks up my sleeve to try to make these ship-friendly, so I will have to take another crack at them soon.

Gold Sprinkled Cake Pops

Party Pops - $21/dozen

These gold sprinkled party pops were created for a 50th birthday party.

I love that there is more than just a little sprinkle on these pops.

They just might qualify as "bling".  Almost.

Very tasty, almost-bling.

Flower Cake Pops

Daisy Pops - $33/dozen

I've tried a couple new things over the last few weeks.  I love trying new things and figuring out what works and what doesn't.  With being so busy it's hard to find time to try new and different techniques.  So it's always fun when I get the opportunity!

These daisy pops turned out really good, I think!  I was very happy with them!

I like how they are simple, yet not.

While I enjoy the whole process of making cake pops, wrapping them up in the bags and ribbon is one of my favorite steps.  Something about the feeling of accomplishment when they are finished and seeing them all pretty and professional-like is very rewarding to me!

Frozen Cake Pops

You'd be a bit hard-pressed to find a little girl right now who DOESN'T like the movie Frozen and all of its fun, quirky little characters!  Shoot.  I like it just as much as my kids do!  That's why when my daughter's birthday rolled around and she told me she wanted a 'Frozen' cake and cake pops, I knew I couldn't say no.

I also knew I had no clue how I would make them.

With time running out and a full schedule, Cupcake Addiction was there to save the day!  I found THIS VIDEO on YouTube and set to work.

In the video, she dips the girls in white and then paints on their skirt colors.  I think next time I will just dip the skirts on the girls instead of painting them with pearl dust colors.  I painted Anna, and Elsa I ended up dipping because the pearl dust I had wasn't the right color for her, and it ended up looking just as good!

I love these little printouts.  It makes things so easy and they look so cute!

These were definitely a hit at the party, and my daughter loved them!

I had different, better ideas for the cake, but it didn't work out.  So I just made it into a big pile of snow and called it a day.  Sometimes that's all you can do!  My girl loved it, though, so I considered it a success anyway.

Jayhawk Cake Pops

"Rock Chalk!!!!"

I'll be honest.  I'm a Pennsylvania girl, transplanted here in Kansas about 3+ years ago.  The Rock Chalk chant definitely intrigued me but it wasn't until I attempted to create a Jayhawk cake pop that I dug deep (and by dug deep I mean googled) to find out just what this little chant means.  The origin of it is really quite interesting.

So, now that I know what it means, I feel validated in having it as my caption.

These little Jayhawks take forever to make, but they are certainly worth it.  Order some for your next party!  You know you want to!  :)

Movie Popcorn Cake Pops

I love it when I get to do something that is out of the ordinary, different from just the usual round party pops.  Those are fun too, but getting to do something different is special!

These pops were made for a little girl's birthday party she was having at the movie theater.  The movie they were seeing was Smurfs 2, so to go along with that theme, we also did some blue party pops to mix in.

I'm told they were a big hit!

Summer Beach Cake Pops

Beach/Summer Themed Pops

These pops are bound to make you smile!

Summer Sunshine Pops

I love using the yellow melts.  The shade is awesome, so cheery and bright, and it dips perfectly without have to thin out the melts at all.  Simply divine.  I don't consider myself an artist by any means, but I am really happy with how these sunny faces turned out!

Beach Ball Pops

In keeping with the summer theme, these beach balls were also fun to create!  I did them in pastel colors because those were the colors I had on hand, but they could also be done in primary colors.

Starfish in the Sand Pops

I'm still not sure that these will make the cut for shipping due to the delicacy of the starfish, but they are cute!  I've always said that summer is not my favorite season, but this collection of beach pops just might change my mind yet!

Tall Rainbow Cake

Why is this called a rainbow cake? Where's the rainbow?

Surprise! One very sweet girl turned one last week! Rainbows seemed very appropriate! :)

From the looks of it the party guests thought so too!  Yummm!

Creating Ice Cream Sundae Pops

These ice cream sundae pops have been a huge hit!  A lot of people can't believe how much they look like an actual ice cream cone.  So here is a simple picture guide to the process:

Get some ice cream cones and saw the bottom off with a serrated knife.  These were about 2.5" or so.  You want the top to be the right width so that the cake ball will sit lightly on top, like a real ice cream cone.

Prepare your styrofoam block.  These cones won't fit into regular holes made by cake pop sticks.  Take a stick, put it in one of the holes (or make a new hole if you have new styrofoam), and move the stick around in a circle creating a bigger opening at the top of the hole.

Poke your cake ball with a stick (do not dip your stick in the candy melt first), then dip your cake ball into the melted candy.  Shake off most of the excess candy melts, but not all of it.  You want a little bit left on so that it will run down the cone a little.  Place the cake ball on the cone and gently slide the stick out of the cake ball.  If you have enough excess on it the hole will be covered up by the drips.  If you don't have enough you can use the stick to put more candy melts on it.  Don't worry about it being messy.  You can always cover it up with sprinkles or the dark melts in the next step.  Don't forget to put the sprinkles on before the candy hardens!

Next drop just a little bit of melted dark chocolate melts.  I usually use a toothpick to help along the drippage.  :)  Add a red peanut butter M&M (peanut M&Ms work too) for a cherry, and you're done!

Don't forget to take pictures!  I place my pops on a white poster board and set one up behind them too.  This with natural lighting makes great photos!  Of course, when editing this photo I added too much exposure and then couldn't undo it when I finally noticed.  I guess that's what happens when you're a mommy and trying to do 10 things all at once.  :)

Ice cream sundae pops are $30/dozen.  Contact us today for your next party or event!
